Introducing Kids to the Game of Golf.

Putting Game… Pennies, Nickels, Quarters!

If you are looking for a really fun game to put some extra money in your child’s piggybank, I would recommend a putting game that Sadie and I play with some quarters (but any size coin will work).

It is a very simple game where you start with a roll of quarters and you give your child both an incentive and disincentive for making some putts.

Here are the steps:

  1. Get a roll of quarters
  2. Put 10 or 15 balls in a circle 10 feet from the hole
  3. Next to each ball put a quarter down
  4. If you make the putt, you get the quarter
  5. If you two putt it the quarter stays on the green
  6. If you three putt it the kid has to give you a quarter back
  7. Go around till all quarters gone

This game is perfect for all ages (and Harvey Penick would be proud).  If you are working with 3-5 year olds, start closer to the hole and move further out as they get older/better with putting.

The good news… everyone wins and it is a fun way to spend time on the putting green.

Enjoy – Mike and Sadie!
