Introducing Kids to the Game of Golf.

How I feel in love with golf!

My first post – How I feel in love with golf!

My name is Alyssa Morgan.  I am currently a freshman and the University of Texas and a member of the women’s golf team.  I started playing golf when I was 9 years old.

My dad signed me up for the Starburst Junior Classic that takes place in Waco.   Even though it was over 100 degrees outside I had a blast because my dad got to be my caddy and there was lots of candy to eat.  At that age I played golf about three times a year.  A week before Starburst I would practice a little bit each day then I would play in the tournament and that was about all the golf I played.

My dad and I have always been very close.  I am very much a daddy’s girl, so we get along great.  He started taking me to work with him at Austin Country Club on the weekends when I was about 10.  I loved it out there.  I made a lot of very close friends at the Country Club.  Because of that I was excited to go to work with my dad and see everyone.  Practicing was more fun because I could be around all friends.  Those friendships have continued and now we are all collegiate golfers.

Neither of my parents ever pressured me to play golf, and they still don’t to this day.  I have always enjoyed the game and practiced to my willingness.  Golf has allowed me to meet some great people, build close friendships and get closer with my dad.
