Building a team of experts…
In alignment with the mission of My Little Golfers, to positively impact the lives of young people by introducing the game of golf in a constructive positive manner, I am pleased to introduce to you 5 new authors that share in the vision of the organization. Each of these people have spent countless hours teaching, playing, or learning the game of golf… but most importantly, they each have a strong passion for sharing their best practices with other teachers, players and parents to enhance thepositive impact of golf for others.
Without further due, introducing the new “bloggers” for My Little Golfers:
Dale Morgan – Dale is one of my favorite people in the game of golf. Not only is he the Head Pro at Austin Country Club, but has a tender heart for the youngsters. Most recently, his oldest daughter was awarded a scholarship to the University of Texas (I know this made him really proud). Dale will be able to share some amazing best practices… as he “walked in the shoes” in accordance to the mission of MLG.
Ann Marie Gildersleeve – Ann Marie is the head teaching professional at Austin Country Club. These are big shoes to fill at this club, as it is the home of Harvey Penick. One of the things that I am most impressed about is how she turned the ACC junior program to one that every club in the country would be jealous of (imagine over 85 junior golfers playing in a club championship). Ann has won been awarded one of the top teachers in the country… and has a special touch for the youngster.
Dave Baron – Dave heads up the First Tee of Austin. In this role, he works with kids of all skills and has to immediately identify a strategy to keep them engaged and having fun. One thing that I love about Dave’s strategy with teaching is that he has 100’s of games to make learning the game of golf a fun experience. Through the core values of the First Tee, Dave provides a well rounded teaching approach for any young player.
Alyssa Morgan – Alyssa represents the youth of the My Little Golfers blog. As the daughter of a golf professional, Alyssa grew up exposed to the game at a very young age. Now as a freshman in college playing golf for the University of Texas, Alyssa is taking her passion for the game to a new level. I am pleased to have her contribute to the blog, as she will be able to provide a unique perspective on golf from “the players” perspective.
Barbara Puett – Barbara has a remarkable career in the game of golf. As a student of Harvey Penick, Barbara has been playing, teaching or writing about golf for most of her life. I look forward to Barbara sharing her pearls of wisdom (and Harveyism’s) as she has a keen awareness of what parent’s should and shouldn’t do to introduce the game to a young person.
For more information on each of these individuals, I encourage you to review their bios on the blog.
