Video – Games with Hula-Hoops and Dora
Note to parents… for maximum success in getting your child to engage in the playing of golf is creating an environment that is fun, rewarding, and competitive. You can accomplish all of these goals by creating games.
My 7 year old Ally is extremely creative and gets a big kick out of making up different games when she plays golf. Most recently, we have been incorporating golf with hula-hoops. Being that hula-hoops are round, there are a number of different ways to create fun things to hit through or hit in.
In the following videos, you will see how Ally’s game was to hit through the hula-hoop for 5 points, get the ball in the air for 3 points… while she is aiming at a Dora the Explorer target. This game for learning golf was a great success for our golfing adventure.
Things Ally learned:
- Aim – hitting through a target
- Distance – stopping the ball at a target
- Swing – clipping the grass to get the ball airborne
So next time you go to the golf course or play in the backyard, look around the garage and find some interesting objects… and make up a fun game to add to your golfing adventure, I can promise you it will be a good time for all.
