Introducing Kids to the Game of Golf.

Memories from the First Big Tournament

On this Fathers Day, I just had one of the most special moments as a father taking my oldest Ally, 8 years old, to play in her first big golf tournament… the Starburst.  It is a fantastic event, where 1000’s of kids from all over the world come to test their game and eat lots of candy.  With this tournament being Ally’s first audition to playing in a larger event, I was a bit anxious to see how she would perform on the golf course.

From a performance standpoint, Ally did outstanding… I could not be more proud of her.  She finished 2nd in the tournament for 8 and under, she smiled the entire time, hit some amazing shots and used her manners (like a grown up).  But more importantly than how she played and the size of her trophy, I want to share the true blessing of golf that I was able to experience over these 4 days.

My experience was a “double eagle”” in terms of time as a father… there is nothing more enjoyable than getting to spend 4 days of 1 on 1 time with your daughter doing something you both love.  This is one of the hidden joys in teaching your child golf… the opportunity to bank some incredible memories for you and your child to share for a lifetime.

Recapping the memories is a short little video…Slideshow (http://mylittlegolfers.com/wp-content/uploads/Slideshow.mp4)

Hopefully this will message will serve as inspiration for more parents to engage with their children… and even go hit a few white ones on the golf course.

One memory at a time!

JB
